Class Officer Minutes
October 6, 2001
In attendance: Laura Althoff, Hilary Bland, Julia Cronin, Alicechandra Fritz, Kristen Kelley, Shelly Warburton, and Maria Smith
(post meeting notes are in italics)
Review of last meeting minutes J. Cronin
Julia did a quick review of the last meeting minutes. No significant comments were made.
Class Web Page L. Althoff et al.
- Launch date has been moved back to mid November, this should be approximately the time that both the AQ is sent out and the reunion letter is sent out. Subsequent to the meeting, Shelley sent an e-mail indicating that the AQ will go out sooner, so I think were targeting November 1 as the launch date.
- Content was discussed. We will include information on dues. Alicechandra will send Mary an update. After the reunion planning conference call, Hilary and Maria will post contact info for each chair. A rough schedule should be out there. Kristen Scheyder will put together the survey to include on the web page. Laura will include a section about making the class e-mail list available to classmates.
- Laura will be contacting the AA office to have a postcard mailing announcing the web page. Along with the URL will be the reunion dates and put out a plea for more e-mail addresses.
- There was a suggestion to include a whos coming to reunion link
Reunion Planning H. Bland/M. Fish et al.
Hilary and Maria gave a brief overview of their volunteer response to date. So far, so good, it seems. There will be a conference call during the week of November 5th for all of the chairs. After this conference call, Hilary will distribute the names of volunteers and chairs to the class board. In addition, this information will be made available on the class website.
The reunion letter will be going out in the beginning of November. We will all put our signatures on the bottom of the page. Please make sure you send a copy of your signature to Luisa Tavares in the Alumnae Office by November 1st. Hilary has circulated some excerpts from the letter for everyone to review. She will send a finalized copy to us by October 20th.
Finances/Fund Raising J. Warner
There was no discussion regarding fund raising and finances, as Jen Warner was unable to call in. We still need to make a decision regarding quantities and timelines for the towel ordering.
Update on Class Giving A. Fritz
- Goal 92K (really expect 60K) we are at 15 K right now this is from less than 3% of the class. Participation goal is 50%. (10/7/01)
- In light of 9.11.01, the development office has kept a business as usual attitude, and Alicechandra is suggesting that we try to link education with the prevention of prejudice.
- Alicechandra has lots of good ideas but has been having difficulty getting motivated in light of 9.11.01 activities but is sending a letter to class agents hoping to motivate them to begin fundraising activities in earnest.
- Had a good spectrum of representatives over volunteer weekend (approx 12 attended), lost a few people but still have approx. 70 volunteers.
- Fall appeal letter going out in October to non-leadership-target donors.
- Parent appeal letter is written, but we will hold off sending it until Spring in the hopes that the economic and political climate will improve.
- Alicechandra is now on a 1 year term of the Alumnae Development Council. She will be providing assistance to the ADC especially regarding young alumnae and how we can improve participation. If any other class officers have thoughts on how to increase giving, this would be valuable information to communicate to the ADC. Some thoughts include: subsidizing reunion for classes having their 2nd, 5th and possibly their 10th reunions; having seniors pledge for 5 years during senior year to increase probability of giving, etc.
- Kristen will be hosting activity in NYC in November timeframe. If she can maintain a development focus, the development office will provide support.
- Advance gift fund for our 25th reunion. We have been talking about an advance gift fund that can augment our fundraising efforts for our 25th reunion. Jen, Hilary & Alicechandra have done some planning around this, but after talking with the Development Office and in light of the economic and political environment, Alicechandra suggests tabling the advance gift fund effort until after our 10th reunion. Alicechandra, Hilary & Jen will work with the Development Office at a later date to develop a plan and appropriate materials to launch the Advance Gift Fund.
- Alicechandra, this is a really sketchy overview of an important topic, I think that it would be a good idea if you could elaborate a little further. Julia Did I fill in the right gaps?
Class E-mail listing L. Althoff
Jen has been working with Laura to refine the list. A test mailing was performed on the 5th. The details of the testing are still unknown. Jen will provide us with a report.
NEXT MEETING: 2nd week in January (before the 21st). Sunday at 8 EST is the suggested time and day.
