Review of last meeting minutes J. Cronin
Julia forgot to print out a copy of minutes from our last meeting held in October 2000 so there was no review!
Class Letter J. Cronin
Thanks to everyone for helping to put together the latest version of the class letter. The Alumnae Office thought our letter was great. It should be going out in the mail shortly. There was some talk about including a flier for the sale of our beach towels in the letter but the timing did not work out. Our next letter will go out in the fall and will be authored and signed by all of the class officers. Please make sure you send your signature to Maya DCosta in the Alumnae Office. The AO has reviewed our letter and made minor edits. The revised class letter has been forwarded to Laura to send out electronically.
Reunion Planning H. Bland/M. Fish
Hilary and Maria reviewed the jobs and planning schedule as outlined below:
Resource Needs/Responsibilities (Jobs to fill)
Timeline
| April | Call Kristen Scheyder re: booklets |
| May | Informal email requesting help (get email list from Laura Althoff)
Deadline for class notes (August edition) |
| June-July | Launch website (w/ online survey, dates, attendance commitments)
Possible postcard mailing (based on response from class letter) |
| July 2 | Green form to Karol Cooper w/ names of Chairs |
| Nov 4 | First reunion mailing (w/ hardcopy questionnaire) |
Maria and Hilary will solicit volunteers directly based on response from class letter. In addition, Hilary will cross check list of class agents against the class list we used to identify volunteers in October. This list will be distributed to the board for review. It was stressed that the Development Office and the Alumnae Office both do a great deal of planning for reunion. We need to make sure that as a class we are coordinating all of our efforts. Would the reunion caller workshop in September be a good time/place to discuss reunion with a larger representation of our class? Hilary will also provide a copy of the social contact program that the class of 51 devised to Julia for review and distribution.
Finances/Fund Raising J. Warner
Currently, there is ~$1,800 in our treasury. This is a satisfactory amount but is not enough for us to obtain our goals at reunion. Estimated future expenses include mailings at $250/300 each and Reunion at $5,000 (+/-). We have only received dues from about 15 classmates. It was agreed that Maria will solicit class dues at her Mini-Reunion.
Our reunion goal is to have zero add on costs. This can only be done through aggressive fundraising. Class officers will be sent boxes of candy to sell in order to help defray costs :-). Jen Warner has agreed to take responsibility to order towels, fronting with her own money (thanks Jen!). In addition, Andy Pax has agreed to let us sell the Blue Laws and split some of the profits with her. There was also discussion surrounding selling ad space in the reunion booklet. Maria/Hilary, should this be made a reunion job? It was suggested that we put an ad in the Alumnae Quarterly but this may be prohibitively expensive. Hilary felt that we could get away with selling towels at this years reunion. Perhaps we should seriously consider getting a table in Blanchard during the spring sometime.
Update on Class Giving A. Fritz
Goal - $30K with 30% participation. We are currently at 14K with 18.8% participation. The college is currently focusing on increasing participation levels, as a class we should do the same. Our reunion goals are X$ and X% participation. At this point, we have identified X# of people as potential cornerstone givers. We are also considering sending out a mailing to parents asking for gifts in honor of their daughters 10th reunion. Hilary, Jen, and Alicechandra will be getting together in the next several weeks to discuss 25 year gift planning ideas.
Class Web Page J. Cronin
Julia was woefully uninformed about the status of our web page. This is an effort that really needs to be spearheaded. Our web page has the potential to be a great tool to help us plan for reunion. Some thoughts about content: intent list of classmates coming to reunion. Putting the reunion questionnaire on-line. Having a reunion FAQ list. A reunion suggestion list. A point to refine our e-mail address list. Info about mini-reunions. If you have any other ideas, forward to Laura, this way there will be a starting point to build our website.
Class E-mail listing J. Warner
Jen has been working with Laura to refine the list. Jen will be sending a list to Maria for her mini-reunion so that attendees can make additions/deletions/corrections. Jen has put together a fancy printout that is thousands of times better than anything the AO has ever sent out to us.
Mini Reunions J. Cronin
Julia has volunteered Maria and Jen to put together an informal mini-reunion planning guide. Mini reunions are a great opportunity to build excitement for Reunion 02 and collect class dues and Alumnae Fund donations.
NEXT MEETING: June/July, 2001, date TBA. From then until reunion, well meet (via phone) every 3 months.
Happy Spring!
